How We Work Together

Step 1: Scope

We work with you to establish the goals for the project. Will you be selling a product, service or property? Explaining a system or technique? Providing information or entertainment?

Everything is possible with our Interactive Walkthroughs of Real Spaces, so the first step is to determine the exact purposes your Walkthrough must serve. At this point, you will be given a firm quote on what your Interactive Walkthrough will cost.

Step 2: Scan

On the agreed date, our expertly-trained and highly-skilled technicians will visit your property to make 3D scans. These scans simultaneously capture both photographic imagery and 3D spatial data, which allows us to create extremely precise models of the actual spaces along with high resolution images. During each scan session, we will acquire as much detail as possible so your Interactive Walkthrough will be accurate.

Depending on the size of your property and the number of 3D scans required, we may be on-site for one hour to multiple days. As a general rule-of-thumb, 3D imaging of 1,000 square feet typically requires approximately 50 scans and takes roughly 90 minutes. Of course, this may vary greatly depending on both your established scope and the characteristics of the property being scanned.

Note: staging the property is not normally included as part of our quoted fees. As such, cleaning, organising and general tidying of your space—while highly recommended—must be done by yourselves. Let us know if you'd like our help with this. (Additional fees will apply.)

Step 3: Render

Using the 3D scan data and images we acquired at your property, we generate a 3D model and overlay the photographic imagery. This is the stage where the Interactive Walkthrough is created – the geometry and physical measurements of the actual scanned spaces and objects are converted into virtual reality. We have control over spaces and view positions to be included/excluded from the final model and can clean up any unwanted scan data. However, if it's determined that additional scan data would be beneficial, we may schedule additional scans of the property to fill holes in the 3D mesh.

During this stage we also decide what specific viewpoints the participant will have access to. Although the scanning process will acquire many overlapping views, some of this data is most beneficial for modelling the 3D space and not all scan positions will be presented to the viewer.

You will receive proof models to review and approve how a participant will view—and move through—your Interactive Walkthrough.

Step 4: Hotspot

After the 3D model is completed and approved by yourselves, we'll apply supplemental text and Hotspots to provide more information to the participants viewing your Interactive Walkthrough.

This may include everything from contact details to product information, complete with links to other models, web pages or videos. Quite literally, your 3D Interactive Walkthrough can be customised to include hyperlinks to anything accessible on the internet.

The addition of these Hotspots is a key aspect of providing crucial value to your viewers and is highly variable from one project to the next. As such, a standard Hotspot service is included but further customisation may be quoted custom.

Step 5: Present

When your Interactive Walkthrough is completed and approved, we will send you a link to embed the Walkthrough on your website (if you require alternative hosting or website solutions we can help with that too).

Once embedded on a web site, your viewers may access the Interactive Walkthrough in several ways. First, and most typical, is by seeing a player viewport embedded within a page on your website. This provides full functionality.

Second, your Interactive Walkthrough may be accessed through a smartphone which provides the capability to view your space in either the standard Interactive Walkthrough or as a Virtual Reality (VR) experience.

VR is dependent on viewing with supported devices, whereas the standard interactive 3D experience is accessible via any current computer or smartphone.
